My Place & Yours

Danielle over at hello owl: is doing another My Place & Yours, so I thought I would join in.

This weeks theme is to show something we collect..........

At the risk of flippantly saying "children", I realise that by far my largest collection is books.

When I say that between me, lovely husband and three children, we have 14 large bookeshelves, I am not exagarating. Double stacked, most of them.

A large proportion of my allocated space is recipe books. And a large chunk is, too, I realise, is diet & self help books. Hell, I realise I even have double copies of some titles..........(see how badly I wanted and needed to give up the cigarettes? Done!)

Ha! The snap below is just a sample taster...........

What do you collect?

  1. Ooh! I love books too! I don't quite collect them, but back in the day I did have a habit of buying them for no good reason!!

I think the VAST majority of my books, like maybe 70-80 percent? are recipe books!

  2. I collect 'stuff' on the Royal Family. Mostly books, and mostly Princess Diana 'stuff'. Don't buy much any more but I have a pretty good collection. :)

  3. I might be equally flippant and say animals...

    But I would say DVD's.

Back home in Scotland I had many many books, on almost every topic.

My DVD collection, however, put the relatively few books I had, to shame. Ofcourse, I sold everything when I emigrated. We needed the money anyway, and couldn't have delivered at all.

Glad to say my DVD collection here has started to grow. I find myself replacing titles I had back home. Habit is too strong a force...

  4. I love books too. We don't have as many any more. I've been downsizing the clutter of our home and some books have gone. Plus, I've been using the library to borrow most of the books I've read in the last 15 months.

  12. While I love books, I hate to spend money on them. I borrow mine from the library. However, I have over 100 cook books. Now why can I never figure out what is for dinner?

  13. Great collection. Even better, if you think that some of them will tell stories many years from now. I love to buy books, for me, or as gifts.
